good people + good things

Established 2017
You may recall reading a news story or two (thousand) about the hot mess that was Uber. To say they painted the company in a poor light is the ultimate understatement and, as a result, the employees paid the ultimate price. We were judged for working at such a “toxic” place, even though we were good people doing good things.

My team wasn’t going to stand for that, so our small but mighty group of six started Good People + Good Things (GPGT). Employees around the globe were invited to sign up to be part of our positivity campaign, which had the simple goal of getting company morale back to pre-2017 levels.

Scout Kit
Turns out, there were a lot of good people doing good things at Uber. So many, in fact, that GPGT quickly realized the need for “brand ambassadors” in cities and countries all over the world. We called them Scouts, bribed them with cool swag, and relied on their help to create events and experiences outside our HQ offices in San Francisco.

Postcard Pop-Up
After an unexpectedly awful year, we wanted to start 2018 on a different note. We created the postcard pop-up for employees to send new year cheer to their peers in other parts of the world. They wrote down their well wishes, words of wisdom, or favorite thing about a fresh start and we sent it to a fellow Uber do-gooder.

Poster Series
Aw, our humble beginnings. GPGT launched with a print piece that contained four original posters, and our library grew from there. We plastered them all over our HQ offices, while our Scouts did the same in their locations.
